I have been notoriously associated with being 15 minutes late to any given engagement for I don't know how long. I have decided to take this on in 2012 and be reliable!
What I've noticed about myself is that I was living into my own reputation that I did not approve of. I started to see that I was saying to myself, "Oh, it's okay. They know I'm going to be late already. I'll get there when I get there." I would then show up apologetic and embarrassed for my behavior...rinse and repeat.
This went unnoticed to me until one day my friend blew up at me.
HOW DARE HE?!?! DOESN'T HE KNOW THIS IS HOW I AM?!?!
::SCOFF AND WALK OFF::
Ultimately, what I was failing to do was be respectful of everyone eles's time. My 15 minutes being late affected their day in some capacity. I wasn't seeing that. So let's be respectful of our friends, family and co-workers from here on out, what do you say?
Be there when you say you're going to be there. If you cannot make it, let them know. Communication is key when it comes to being reliable. Try not to fall into the old habit of "it's easier to ask for forgiveness than permission". Being reliable is a very sexy trait, don't you think? So....Go on with your sexy self!!
