What I'm referring to is asking questions. Even more importantly, making requests. Look back at any giving normal day in your world. Think of every instance where you stopped yourself from asking a question simply because you were CERTAIN you weren't going to get the answer you wanted. This ultimately left you feeling unfulfilled and in the mystery of "what if I had asked?..."
A friend of mine stated it so perfectly when she said, "the answer will always be a 'no' until you ask". THIS BLEW ME AWAY! I'd never thought of it in that way before. What I was doing when I didn't step up and make a request for something, no matter what the significance, was not seeing the person who was going to be asked as someone who was decisive enough to reply back to me with a strong, validated answer. I was robbing them of that experience and in turn feeling unfulfilled and powerless.
I have been taking this head on in my everyday life. I still fall into my old ways of not taking initiative due to nerves, doubt, etc. What I know now is the power of expressing myself to those around me and the results that follow. Take this on for yourself as well...see how gutsy you can get. I dare ya!
