The thing about inspiration is that it reminds us of a fundamental universal truth that we're all the same. We're human. We all want to be heard. We all want validation. We want to be loved, and to love.
I think when we say something or someone is inspiring, it's because deep down inside of us, there is a little whisper that tells us we can "do it too"! Whatever it is. It might be our ego doing all of that whispering, and I'm not saying it's good or bad. I'm just saying it's there, and you've heard it.
When we criticize others it's an outward expression of an inward reflection of something we don't like about ourselves. The inverse of that is when we compliment others, we're really complementing something we see in ourselves that we like. Again, this is not good or bad - it just is. I think the same goes for when we are inspired. It ignites a fire that burns inside of us!
I was recently inspired by a woman at work to get back into boxing. This woman is half my size, maybe about 10 years older than me, and totally full of energy! She brought her boxing coach to our offices and they did a mock workout for us. (Remind me never to mess with her!) I thought to myself - she is an ordinary woman, just like me, and she is kicking ass! She's doing something extraordinary! I was really impressed with her stamina and her memorization of the punch combos.
I felt inspired enough to sign up at my gym the next week! So guess what guys -- starting this WEDNESDAY 5/30, I start boxing 2x/week. On my off days, I've got spin and yoga. This is all part of my commitment to get back into shape. I don't know about you, but when I look good, I feel good. (And remember - "looking good" is totally relative.)
What can you CREATE when you are inspired?
