Your mind is a busy place sometimes, but if you think about it - it's actually a still, quiet and empty place. Consider that empty space is still a place. So you get to chose what you want to fill it with. Let's begin to think on purpose. Don't wait to see how you feel and THEN chose what thoughts you're going to feed your mind. Become aware of the fearful thinking around who your really are. I say fearful because it is the exact opposite of love. and who we are is actually LOVE. Our nature is divine, and as we've said before, we're spiritual - dressed up in costume.
One way to begin this practice, of feeding your mind, is to take time in the morning to get "spirituality dressed" (I heard someone call it that once and I loved it!). By doing this, you are arming yourself for the day. Yes, you'll face challenges in your day, but you want to be well equipped to handle it. So, think of this time as meal time for your mind, a breakfast, even. Just as some meals are yummy and some are not as tasty, so are the thoughts that you feed yourself.
If I can offer one suggestion it would be to not watch, read, or listen to the news in the morning during your daily routine. While it is important to be informed about what's going on in the world around you, knowing this will not arm you to be able to interact with people. I would avoid the news in the morning altogether, especially if you know you have emotional reactions or responses to what you hear and read.
Some examples of some helpful food for though:
- The GG FB Page
- Huffpo Good News
- Podcasts of spiritual teachers and speakers (Marianne Williamson, Deepak Chopra, Joel Osteen, etc.)
- Music with positive messages, or no lyrics at all.
- Daily Affirmations. "This is a new day, and it's gonna be awesome!" or "I expect that something good is going to happen today." or my favorite, "Make me useful today"
